Malita - Soul of a Warrior - 2019

Project 3

3D game created by a full-class team, using a 3D game engine developed by classmates (using Kuroko Engine as a base and adding subsystems from other class-developed engines). We were given the task to create a game based on the, at the time, recently released Alita: Battle Angel movie, with an action RPG gameplay style akin to that found in Diablo or Torchlight. I was assigned to gameplay design at first, and pushed the team into making a beat 'em up instead of an action RPG, inspired by SuperGiant Games' Hades. After the first version of the GDD was completed, I was moved to the environment team to add collision boxes to the levels. Finally, in the last stage of production, my task was to write and implement the game's script, both written and audible. I worked as an event planner for when the scenes triggered, and supervised the (admittedly quite amateur) dub.

As it was in the previous project subjects (Project 1 and Project 2), one of the objectives going in was to simulate a real game company environment. We were divided into teams, one of us was appointed as a producer, and we held weekly scrumm teams, logging each hour worked and each task completed into a Hack n Plan project.
